which anchor would be best?

I'm not getting involved in 'what type', but as to where, anchors are hung of the bow, if you can take the pain. You could perhaps get a chain installed on to a piercing on the anchor too.

I guarantee if you show it to your daughter, it'll put her off getting another one.

I think a CQR would house very nicely between your hawse pipe and your stern tube.
