I'd be pretty useless at repelling boarders, like most people. Unlike many, I'm aware of the fact, which would probably enhance my survival prospects. All the same, I do think I'll stick to the Solent, where the worst robbers are the marina operators and chandlers.

Yes pretty much and he uses a rather expensive set of sights, after dialing in your boat speed and wind speed it does the maths and red dots what you are aimed at or will get a .5" round so close you will want new pants. He normally gets taken off the boat 12 miles out in international waters as there is too much paperwork involved to go into a port with guns

And that, of course is the issue. If I had to, I'd go for a 12 bore but, while I can shoot straight, I'm not a trained killer, so it would most likely just up the ante and make my survival less likely.

12 volts wont be enough, pig fence is good at 18,000 volts wont kill but would brighten their morning, only issue electric fences give you is the electrical interference it could knock out the VHF whilst its switched on.

Very simple. Just convert 12V at highish current to 18000V at lowish current. I've built transformers which will do this many times, although the simplest way is probably to use an old car HT coil.

Yes transformer off a car battery, HT coil is probably a cheap way of doing it, Pig fence would be safe/ non lethal to human
