...or "Friends Reunited" was the name of a trading ketch that plied the channel into Porthmadog many decades ago. It gave its name to the now famous "Stone Boat" of Portmeirion (ya know - where The Prisoner series was filmed).

This boat pictured here

is made from stone and cement and is set into the harbour wall down at Portmeirion beach. It looks, for all the world like a real boat, especially if you approach from the sea at high tide.

The purpose of this story is one of huge coincidence...and friends reunited.

An old friend of mine (for 43 years) turned up on my doorstep a few months back, having lived and worked away for over 15 years - we had almost lost touch. He had moved back to Chester and bought a house. Not only that, he had bought a static caravan on the same caravan park that we messed about in as teenagers.

We also used to mess about in a Fletcher 129, as mentioned on another post, and this boat belonged to another friend, and as it turns out, he bought a static caravan not 30 yards from the other chap - spooky or what. So now all 3 of us from '74 are back together in the same place, doing the same things.

On a post that I placed here 3 years ago, I told the tale of how we would go to Portmeirion and tie up in the Fletcher, and go ashore without paying. Before long, we would be seen by some official (well, hey! - wandering around in a wetsuit is a bit of a giveaway) and be chased off down to the boat, where we would frantically rope start the Crescent and be off.

Do you have any spooky coincidences like this?

Re: Spooky coincidences

Hm. Reminds me of a time 30 years ago, when we went along the M1 towards London in Dad's ole car. Today, any time i want to drive northwards from London or southwards towards London - guess what road I use? That's right - the M1 !!!- EXACTLY the same road we used all those years ago!
