Can any of our electrical boffins advises me weather this American induction heater would work off a 110v site transformer or better still a 2200w generator with a 110v take off ? Needles to say its less than half price over the pond even taking into accent postage.

I normally use Oxy-Acetylene but its getting harder to buy and insurance is going through the roof.

Induction heaters like induction cookers take the mains power and rectify to DC then use this to power an oscilator at high frequency. So one would imagine that the difference 60 hertz to 50 hertz should not matter. One would also thinkl that a transformer 240v to 120v should be OK although the transformer will be pretty big. The use ona generator might depend on the waveform of the generator. Modern gens seem to fabricate an AC which is largely square wave which apparently gives problems with some electronics all of which use the rectifier system. Of course a sine wave gen should be no problem. Older or larger gens running at precisely 1500 or 3000 RPM use an alternator which naturally produces sine wave. good luck olewill

A friend imports these American Motor Homes where you tow them with a Dodge Pick Up and instead of rewiring them he uses 110 site transformers.
