Just had our AIS transponder fitted today. Does anybody know how we go about displaying a photo of the boat please?
Not a feature of AIS as such. You need to go to MarineTraffic , VesselFinder, etc. You can add a picture on these sites.Just had our AIS transponder fitted today. Does anybody know how we go about displaying a photo of the boat please?
Somebody took a couple of pictures of us going into St Vaast and uploaded them to our AIS info when we first had an AIS transceiver.Just had our AIS transponder fitted today. Does anybody know how we go about displaying a photo of the boat please?
Seems like MMSI spotting is a global hobby. When going through the Kiel canal a neighbour of mine was photographed by this guy, and in a Portuguese anchorage by this guy. It makes me want to turn my AIS off!Somebody took a couple of pictures of us going into St Vaast and uploaded them to our AIS info when we first had an AIS transceiver.
Urban myth. Google Street View pixilates faces and reg numbers.I'm reminded of the guy who got into all sorts of trouble because Google Street View showed his car parked outside his wife's best friend's house![]()
I'm happy to be proved wrong, but my understanding was that this incident, right at the beginning of Street View is why they now pixelate number plates. Still not much help if you have a distinctive car, thoughUrban myth. Google Street View pixilates faces and reg numbers.
Well, it tries to and mostly succeeds. But the algorithms fail sometimes. I think there are examples where someone is pixelated in the view taken next to them but not in one looking back at them. Of course, if such views are brought to their attention they are fixed, but it's an automated process that isn't fool-proof.Urban myth. Google Street View pixilates faces and reg numbers.
I have had people do this & I email them to remove them. There is one chap in boulogne who insists on doing it & I have to keep telling him not to. I object to people taking pictures of my boat like this. I did post a picture myself & it was blocked as it included some people walking along the dock side. That is good. I re took the photo.
We boat owners should resign ourselves to the fact that we are merely moving components of what someone else considers to be scenery.I have had people do this & I email them to remove them. However, one photo the chap in Boulogne took showed a picture of a friend of mine & it would have caused some embarrassment if seen. We had it removed
