What was wrong with it? It was jolly, it featured real sailors and boatmen, it didn't try to make entertainment out of something that wasn't there.
I also like his Dales programmes and his Cooking programmes.

I liked it too, and not a Princess or Sunseeker in sight.
Came across as an authentic working boat documentary.:)

I'd never heard of him. I thought the intro was too long and the adverts certainly were, though I rarely watch TV esp ITV.
It didn't make me look forward to future episodes.
Just me I guess.

after the break they went over what had just happened b 4 the break, wasting a good few minutes of air time

The construction of the programme and the adverts have nothing to do with the subject and the presenter. Looking forward to where they hope to sell the programmes they repeat the details (other programmes like Caroline Quentin's "Cornwall" are much worse) so they can appeal to the biggest number of possible buyers who may be chopping the programme into even smaller bits.
It's a very common practice in these types of programme.

If you watch Michael Portillo's Great British Railway Journeys you'll get quite used to it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00xgqxy

I quite enjoyed it, but then it helps to have sailed the same waters. I shall certainly look out for it again next week.

For those asking who is, he played Vyvyan ******* in The Young Ones.

How pathetic. You can't even write B a s t a r d without the thought police intervening.
