Ad41 gearbox

I had a gearbox problem with a. HA1s 2.62 gearbox on. Volvo AD41p engine.
An engineer is trying to rebuild the box, but seems to be having trouble in reassembly.
There doesn't seem to be any replacement gearboxes or recon units around.
Does anyone know of a suitable alternative box which may be compatible?

That is a shame as they are very durable gearboxes. I have the same one. There are a few for sale online, might be work enquiring about this one (ignore the bodged oil cooler) VOLVO HS1A 2.62 | AMAKUSA MARINA Co.

There must be some lying on the hard in scrap boats, but finding one , don’t ask me.

Dimensions are the same as the earlier MS reverse gears including the down angle for the output shaft.
Fairly certain fitting any non VP gearbox involves moving the engine backwards ? and/or altering the angle of the engine to get your "new" gearbox to line up with your existing propshaft.
Also the problem of any aftermarket gearbox not having the same reduction ratio and needing the prop to be repitched to compensate.
