Access to Marinas during Covid 19 restrictions

They say "While it is unlikely that you will have occupiers who are living on boats at the marina, " Really? One near me has around 30 livaboard vessels .. Health and safety dictate certain rules so that changes some aspects of completely shutting down.

I think there's a BIG difference between what is theoretically happening and what is actually happening in this case. Many marinas have a "No liveaboards" rule that is quietly ignored as long as liveaboards don't make themselves too obvious! Many, many cases reported on the fora!

Ok Judge please don‘t be stupid - You know what not going out means. It does NOT mean you can’t go out in your garden.

In this case, the Minister's instruction most definitely is backed up by Regulations and Guidance. Isn't that enough authority?

I can imagine the planners taking a closer interest, as their normal workload declines.

This has been bashed to death, already , hence why the police have been told to back down , the lady in court in regards her train journey has been thrown out, and Our Health Sectary on Thursday telling us we can go out in our cars no problems (we all knew anyway) and today telling us only 5 mins in the car, you could not make this mess up , guidance only, never regulation which is if going out do social distancing , and keep only within family groups ,

I see intelligent discussion is not your strong point, and when confronted with facts and references you decide never to read them but still feel the need to follow my posts via the follow button and make fun of my posts , one needs to try and understand ones psych to behave in such manner , some could point to bullying and the need to feel oh so strong . Nit picking - who started that?

Police "trade bodies" are giving their own guidance. This can't override Government guidance or legislation. They aren't telling forces what to do, the individual Chiefs make their own decisions.
 
I am just non plussed that so many of you are happy to blindly follow the recommendations - but dont give any thought to what is intended?

Today, every one where I live was walking along the sea front. It was close to their homes and a short walk for most. There was a good mix of joggers, bikes (share and care), push chairs etc. The joggers were sweating profusely (most didnt look like they were regular jogggers) and the bikers were weaving between the people. It would have been very difficult not to bump into each other or get sprayed with sweat at some point. Of course everyone understandably wanted to get out, and this was their hour of excercise doubtless. Of course they were all strickly complying with the Government's recommendations - or should I have said blindly complying. The reall message had clearly been lost somewhere with the local vigilante who were putting notes on people's cars. It was chaos. It will be worse tomorrow.

Doubtless a lucky few were sitting on their boats or in their holiday homes brushing shoulders with no one - carefully walking the short distance from car to boat - keeping themselves to themselves - oh, I know doing exactly what the Government has asked of us and is so sensible. They had thought about it.

Others had driven into the country, where there was wide open space, and it wasnt difficult to avoid other walkers. A few had the police leaning into the windows so they were only a foot or two away lecturing them about non existent legislation while spreading everything that they might be carrying.

I wonder which category really was protecting or NHS the best? Those blindly following the advice, those sanctimonious few leaving notes they had touched on windscreens, or those minding their own business and keeping away from everyone?

Now there is a question.

Personally I shall continue to protect the NHS, as I prefer to think about what is being asked of me, rather that blindly following the letter of recommendations which were drafted some weeks ago and well before anyone had much idea how they would operate i practice.

Of course we could all stay in our houses, where statistically the most accidents require a visit to hospital occur - which would be really helpful. Or the Government might introduce more draconian legislation so a significant part of the population goes down with mental disease - which would also be a great help to the NHS.

What is intended could not have been more clearly stated this afternoon

The Secretary of State unequivocally stated "Stay at home"

He didn't say "Stay at home unless you're a smart alec who thinks he/she knows better"

He didn't say "Stay at home unless you can come up with some plausible argument in favour of doing what you want to do"

He said, and i quote "This is not guidance, this is an instruction. Stay at home"

As already pointed out, if people continue to make their own rules up the inevitable consequence will be more draconian restrictions (and indeed i would not be at all surprised if a further and more prescriptive ministerial order isn't being drafted right now)

My prediction - this will happen on Monday after a weekend of grid-lock on the coast and in the national parks.

He can say what he likes only 34% of the population put him in Power, and his words mean nothing , I do not need someone in the Tory party to give me advice thanks , I have seen that for 10 years , His opinion can be waffled all he likes its not the law , and the Law is above the government as we had already seen
Public opinion on forums is also not the law , but most Brits will obey it and be sensible and look out for each other, some will not .
To expect 100% compliance is expecting martians to land , let those that want to be idiots be idiots and those like me will be sensible, and use common sense when I go out over the weekend for my exercise

He said no such thing - but we cant really have a rational discussion if we are going to make things up, can we?

I always recall my Dad saying if the man next door (a gruff Sergeant Major type) saw you on the roof and said "jump" - would you? Of course I dont mind those who blindly follow the advice, you do as you will, I read Biology at Uni., I am very happy what I need to do to do my best to look after my health, the NHS and keep the spread down, so thats what I will do. I have spent a lot of time thinking about it, reading the scientific journals, watching how people are behaving, and I know where I want to go, and I know that I need to go out a bit - never mind I am also a key work, so its all good with me.

If you have thought about it, and reached a different conclusion, you should go with that, as long as you arent one of those walking along the sea front or putting silly notes on people's car screens. If you are happy to stay in 24/7 and have enough food and supplies also very good with me - look after your health, dont fall down the stairs and we will all be fine.

And it may appear to be sarcasm - it isnt, but it is intened to be a little light hearted!
