No footprints in the mud, so the empty snap davits probably tell a story of swmbo fleeing by tender, with skipper down below feeling very sorry for himself, hiding from tabloid and freelance photographers

Flamin' Heck!!! What a beautiful boat, what a horrible sight. I bow my head in shame. It looks like i was wrong, beaching in the solent may not be a good idea after all! DOH!! I appolagise to each and everyone of you, espiecally you BrendanS and the owner of the Targa, god i hope he isn't a member on this forum and took my advice on beaching it. That sort off thing doesn't happen on Loch Lomond!!! STUPID ME!!!!
Like Petem had asked does that sort of incident cause any damage to the boat? and should the skipper have put his trim up? Does he just have to sit tight and wait for the tide to come back in? Say what? 12hr for high tide again?
Cheers
Alistair...
P.S. Better to buy a Dinghy!!

As far as I am aware, a sterndrive boat can be beached with no harm although, as this one, it may not lie flat because of hull shape. The legs should have been raised to avoid damage to props although probably no damage in this case as the bottom seems to be soft mud.
I did manage to beach our single shaft drive in Osborne Bay once - anchored a little to close in on a falling tide and realised too late. No damage because soft ground but not recommended. Had to wait three hours or so, at a slightly uncomfortable angle, for the flood to float us off.
Hmm. Also he got a bit lucky because the boat is on a slight mound of mud, roughly amidships, so the keel at the transom isn't pushed into the mud at all. Still, it's amazing he didn't fully raise the legs, and if the trim is bust (pete sold him a dud?? ) he should have got out as the tide receded and dug holes in the still-wet mud for the legs to rest in.
