One of the key things Dave is preperation to make this stuff work well.

Before - http://www.mad-als.com/images/full/talon5.jpg

The previous owner had let it go a bit and believe me everything on the boat was like the before pic, we are getting there with her now.

We seem to have similarities then. The previous owner of my Windy had let it go - a lot! You've done a nice job on those legs, were they new props, or did you manage to rescue the old ones? My old props had been eaten right through and were more like Normandy lace than aluminium props.

I went on your site and really enjoyed the video. Looks like part of what must have been a nice day.

Talon looks a great boat, I'm sure you must get great pleasure from her. The expenditure never seems to stop though does it? :)

LOL about the props.

Yes our props were eaten badly, we managed to make one resonable pair a spare set with metal filler, it would do to get us home in an emergency, but thats all. We brought some new props, then undercoated and AF'd them. In fact I have just got back from Dad's where we have been stripping the props down and getting them ready for out next season, they are now ready for undercoating and AF'ng http://www.mad-als.com/temp/b&aprop.jpg my Dad is the driving force behind getting everything done perfectly, I just do as I am told /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks for the comments on the site, I would like to do a vid like that with the boat passing from an external shot, we need another boat owner to come out with us so we can do that. Perhaps in the summer I will find a kind voluntere on this forum... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

In large parts of the Solent, the bottom is flat and gently shelving. Coming out of my home port of Lymington for example. At low tide, if you were to wait until you had more than 10' water, you'd have a hell of a long journey at tickover before you got to anywhere you could open up.

At the other extreme, just around the corner at Hurst Spit, a very steeply shelving shingle spit, you can run along the shore, literally just a few feet off the shore. Doing a 40knt run, when your passenger could just about lean over the side of the boat and touch the shore, usually results in bulging eye syndrome the first time you do it to them!
