    Matsutec HP-33A AIS Transponder

Just got my HP33A running 0319 firmware. It picked up a SAR Helicopter quickly but got the speed wrong. A check on Marine Traffic indicated the SAR was transmitting the correct info. Also in menu gps setup there was no option to select Rhumb line sailing. Anyone had this?

Building the Ultrasonic Antifouling Kit from Jaycar

no clicking is it working? Hi, Mine is all built and set up but I can't hear any clicks and it doesn't interfere with an am radio. Connecting power via an ammmeter gives a brief flicker only. Led is on. Components are correctly placed and soldered. What can I check next? I don't have a scope...

Navionics Android App on a tablet

Has anyone tried this app on an android tablet? I recently got an Advent Vega 10" tablet with the specific notion of running this App on it. It installs fine but was a little flaky till the 5.1 update when it wouldn't run at all. The workaround was to run something called fake location or a...

    Navionics and Android

You can try it and get a refund within 24 hours if you don't like it or it won't work. I have it on the Milestone and it is good but charts not up to date eg R Exe main channel has moved, the MSC Napoli has gone and Westbay Harbour has a new pier. But you get Currents which my Navman hasn't got...

XM Anti-fouling - not quite what it says on the tin...

I also saw this colour straight from the tin (CX2000 )but the colour was not the problem. I noticed some green around the waterline and dried out on an Exe sandbank to scrub. I was amazed to find the lower part of the hull was completely covered in barnacles only 5 weeks after launch! After...

    Wheelpilots

My Autohelm 3000 is faulty but there seem to be no alternative wheelpilots for my Halmatic 880 which has a bulkhead mounted wheel rather than the pedestal wheel more commonly found. So do I have to handsteer for the rest of my life?

    mobile broadband in the SW

[ QUOTE ] We are up to the minute here in Scilly and have the Broad band, however your O2 coverage may be non existent. Vodafone and Orange are the only two that come close to reliable with Vodafone being best and Orange a bit patchy. AFAIK no others work unless they have recently added to our...

    mobile broadband in the SW

Has anyone succesfully used mobile broadband around the south coast say Scilly Isles to Poole. I guess it would be very slow in the Scilly Isles or not work at all? And which provider? I am on O2 and their phone coverage is fine for me in that area except for between Bolt Head and Bolt Tail but...

    Cobra HH300 batteries

Yes it does and on reflection I think this arrangement is to stop people trying to charge ordinary alkaline cells in error as it could run off alkalines but if re-charged they could explode.

    Cobra HH300 batteries

This handheld VHF will only charge it's own brand of batteries as there is a contact to the body of the battery at the side where the case is exposed. If I remove the plastic to make a contact and use a higher capacity battery will it cause charging problems? As it is a slow charger I really...

    Tri-Colour Bulb Wattage

Re: LEDs again Having just bought the uiltraled that fits my Aqua 40 Triclour mast head light I can say that there is no way it complies with the regs even though he said the same to me. I am sticking to the 25 W. It is a safety issue for me. I will use it for the allround/steaming light. I am...
