We invariably stop over in Ramsgate from the Orwell when we’ve done it. Then we tend to do the rest without stopping but don’t mind night watches and punching tides if necessary.
Very useful, thanks. I have asked for a price.
Does anyone know where replacement gearboxes are available and how much they might be? Since I didnt buy this handle and it is probably 6-7 years old, I doubt if it could be done foc as suggested.
Thanks.
I have inherited one of these from a friend's yacht. They get good reviews online and I am keen to try it out.
However, this one has a fault which first needs to be addressed.
The battery charges fully (I have checked the voltage) and the chuck moves slowly when the trigger is squeezed a little...
Thanks. The Mikuni component is described as a "silencer/filter" and it may have a filter at the end. The end piece comes off with a wing nut - corrosion permitting. I will have a look at it soon and see. I can't recall if I inserted a filter unit when I installed it. In any case, it's nice...
Our heater was left on for several days by mistake (not me!). Fortunately no nasty consequences arose but it now smells a little more than usual and I am servicing it. I would like to replace this component. It's now 5 years old and has never been looked at. It's probably well gummed up.
It...
+1. Use with a mildly abrasive cloth or a dull scotchbright type pad. The aim is to dissolve AND remove the offending ink colour from the surface rather than dissolving it and moving it around. This worked for me on that jeanneau material but, as said, try somewhere unseen first.
I must add my thoughts to those of others. I too never missed reading Mark's posts as they were always entertaining and gave those of us who lurk on this forum encouragement to keep on with the boating shenanigans.
I am very sorry for your loss and pray that you will remember him in the good...
Thanks. Yes. That is a cardinal rule on board Selkie. We had trouble years ago with tinned food. Mobile phones are also an issue as well as those BT speakers which some bring on board.
No we have not done that. I guess the system may have lost its settings somehow and needs a full re-commission (calibration run and heading stuff). Its been wrong or a season or so and we have put up with it. It may have occurred when I was adding a multiplexer for AIS. Can't quite remember...
Oops. My "bad". In that case, the unit is apparently OK.
I wonder why we are not getting the correct heading on the MFD (C90)? The boat icon crabs along irrespective of the HDG. At the binnacle, the autopilot HDG is apparently OK (if in need of calibration).
Our compass has been misbehaving for some time. I've checked the wiring according to the instructions here; http://www.raymarine.co.uk/knowledgebase/index.cfm?view=3798
I get the expected results, except for a resistance of 4.3ohm between red and green wires. That seems to indicate a short...
