    Molesey Lock

I've had the same argument with a friend of mine. I have somewhere, the Thames handbook that came with the licence for 1973, that shows Teddington and Molesey Locks both 24hr working. Hope this helps.

    question about a tender

You might be out of date there Byron. My tender lives in davits and 2yrs ago I had an unlicenced notice slapped on it even though it was licenced, they just didn't see the plate.

    Perkins HT6 354

FWIW: I had both P175s from my Moonraker overhauled by Golden Arrow Marine some years ago and on dynamometer testing they achieved 196bhp. With new 4 blade props the boat could just top 20kts at 2550rpm and cruise at 16. It's now used mainly on the river, so speed is not reqd.

    Dicks den

Don't know the owner of Dick Den but I believe he has a son? who owns Seaduction, Sealine 39, kept in one of local marinas? Bit tenuous I'm afraid, but hope it helps.

Who's had their boat the longest?

First boat 2 years, second boat 4 years, then a gap and present boat coming up to 27 years, all at MDL marinas - that must be a record as well. No wonder I'm poor !

    Historic EA licence fees

In 1987 the charge for my 38 sq metre boat was £141.36. I make that £3.72 sqm. Diesel was also 18p per litre-happy days!

    Cheap boat Anyone ?

Actually this may be the last one - before the unofficial moderator gives us detention! Who remembers Carla & Cannon V, I loved that boat. Also the lovely Bert & Doris from Ellesay. I used to moor on the same pontoon. Still got the same boat. I also remember Samantha Lukey. She used to walk...

    Gearbox rebuild

The company at Penton Hook was called Tideway Marine and I used them more than 20yrs ago, but I think they are long gone. I would suggest you try T Norris at Isleworth www.tnorrismarine.co.uk Failing that I would suggest Golden Arrow at Poole. No connection with either but can reccomend...

    Easter has been cancelled.(Official)

Sorry to be bearer of bad news - listened to Simon King (a weatherman) on R5 this afternoon. He said the jet stream won't move North till end of April, then it will start to warm up. Just in time for Spring Bank Holiday!

    EA Visiting Marinas

Should have gone to Specsavers. Popped down to the boat at Bray this afternoon. I was amazed at the number of tickets stuck on boats. Imagine my absolute horror when I found one stuck on my pride and joy. Now for the record, my boat has never been unlicenced in all the years I've owned her...

    Princess 440

There's a P42 or 420 in Bray Marina, could be a 44. Air draft should be ok as long as the arch can hinge down. Have a look at the big stuff at Harleyford to see what's possible. Cookham lock cut is the lowest and Eton/Windsor the most awkward due to the arch, especially if there's a big flow.

    Moonraker 36 Moulds for sale.

Thanks for the mention Chris. I have indeed "got about a bit". Holland in the North, Falmouth in SW, and C.I and Brittany in South and all stops inbetween several times over! Spread over the 20 odd years I've owned Golden Sands. I also have heard stories of poor handling in following seas, but...

Following on from the earlier 60/40 diesel

I imagine that HMRC do not want the hassle of any other system considering the minimal tax return to the exchequer. Just keep your head down and accept what is on offer. We will all be moaning if oil rises to <$145 a barrel as earlier this year. Then we will question again if the system...
