I have 2 Borg Warner Velvet Drive gearboxes, one of which is noisy and overheated to the extent that it ceased to function on our recent run back from St Kats, fortunately not at a vital point in the trip.
I can get it out but would like it rebuilt over the winter. I had heard someone at Penton Hook does these , but this could be old info. Any helpful advice pls.
Thanks

Sorry to hear your problem. Might be worth trying Chertsey Meads Marine to see who they use. The velvet drives are in my opinion the 'Rolls Royce' of gearboxes and I have them as well. Interested to see who the specialist is.

ASAP Supplies sells overhaul kits and the Borg Warner 70 Series is simple as a wheelbarrow to strip and rebuild, why not do it yourself??

The company at Penton Hook was called Tideway Marine and I used them more than 20yrs ago, but I think they are long gone.

I would suggest you try T Norris at Isleworth www.tnorrismarine.co.uk Failing that I would suggest Golden Arrow at Poole.

No connection with either but can reccomend both companies.
