I signed up for YM at SIBS (15 copies for the price of 12, clever methinks) and I'm sure I was told that I'd get the November edition through the letter box - yet nothing has arrived (not so clever methinks). The DD has gone from the account but no magazine - anybody else got the same problem?

Hmmmmmmmmmm........pleased I'm not alone Bedouin, but it's not good is it? I feel a bit robbed actually, you'd think that subscription customers would be good news for IPC but it seems that once they have your cash they don't perform and (as far as I've experienced so far) don't care either.

Yours,

I got a letter a couple of weeks ago confirming my subscription taken out at SIBS, and that the first issue would be the December issue due out imminently, so don't panic just yet... although I don't know why I would get a confirmation letter and you haven't!

Yep- I signed up as well and was very surprised to get a letter saying the first issue would be December- that seems an awfully long time to process the subscription.

I also subscribed at the Boat Show on the Thursday. Not sure how many copies it was but I did receive a free pair of Musto sailing gloves. My November copy arrived okay and I live in Hong Kong!

It seems that even getting a letter to explain that your subscription is delayed puts you in a fortunate minority /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

December

The processing is done within days of the show but unfortunately we run to a system where print orders for the next available issue are estimated (prior to the show) and cannot be altered afterwards. So if there is stronger than anticipated demand, either at the show or via the other methods of ordering, then there physically isn't a magazine available until the issue afterwards.

We could claim environmental credit for trying to save wastage on paper and you would all probably respond with crap system, false economy, poor forecasting and so on -- whatever the merits or demerits I think the question as to why you have to wait for a December issue is a fair one that should be answered and, preferably, improved.

Just raised this thread with publishing team.

If anyone here has not received confirmation of a subscription please PM me or send to kim_hollamby@ipcmedia.com and I will chase this end.

Re: December

Kim,

The situation could easily be improved by just telling the sales staff on the SIBS show stand not to promise a November mag when the reality is December. I'd not have even raised this if the girl hadn't said I'd have the November mag. It seems that the same was said to others too.

Re: December

Agreed -- although the November promise was in good faith as it happens. Still awaiting confirmation but the problem seems to have happened post show. Anyhow, lots of emails flying around so once again apologies but trying to sort now.

Re: December

Nothing seems to have improved since two years ago! I took out subscription then, got a half bottle of something good, and I think I didn't get anything till December. However the good side is that you get an 'extra' copy at the end of your agreement, bad side is they don't offer you another 'half bottle of something good'!!
Just changed my banking arrangements .... and guess which DD did not! Yup, I'm trying to sort it out now ..... perhaps a 'half bottle of something good'????
