I have a reply from Yakker. Signal K is not involved. He sent me a screenshot. I will test and get back to the forum.

mmmmmm The Yakker website as I linked to earlier - has no mention of SignalK ... so they have confirmed it ...

My honest first reaction is : Maybe trying to get too many things working together at same time ?

I know you probably already did this - but I would be disconnecting all ... putting all back to factory default and then start getting ONE to work ... then next ... etc.

I think this is an over simplification. Suspect this comes down to 2 questions: are the details in the 'communication tab' the same as the Yakker? and secondly, will OpenCPN cope with an input from USB as well as a wifi, at the same time? Yakker know about OpenCPN/Pi so no doubt will give good advice.

My honest first reaction is : Maybe trying to get too many things working together at same time ? Unlikely.

I would have to check - but I'm fairly sure that my OpenCPN has both enabled same time. I have a feeling that it determines by 'hierarchy' .. which is first in the list and connected.
But anyway - it seems that SignalK is one error ... its not supported. Next ??

I realise that I am wandering of the threads path ... but would like to say ....

I have integrated various items .... Plotter / AIS .. PC ... Tablet ... Smartphone .... via my WiFi2NMEA (now same guy offers WiFi4NMEA ..... excellent gear) .... to have a co-ordinated system. It has WiFi that guests can log onto as well ...
All works excellently.

But I did not lose sight of having also each item capable of own working. The Plotter has AIS built in and user option to display on charting or 'radar style' AIS screen. PC has OpenCPN and Seaclear, along with a USB GPS and USB AIS recvr .... Tablet has Navionics .... Smartphone has Navionics .....
Its definite overkill - but who knows what will or can fail - redundancy out in the middle of the 'oggin' ....... I don't want to rely on a system.

Well, Steve Dale from YakBitz came up with the goods. I input from his screen grab and off the system went. Full AIS:

I was very close and not sure what is the difference between this and some of my attempts.

I'm sure he won't mind me reporting his comments:

"The Yakker is sending straight NMEA/AIS which OpenCPN has used natively from day one.

I haven't had much to do with SignalK since my devices are connected directly to plotters, AIS receiver etc. The big brands have no interest in SignalK, so it's not really relevant to me.

Having said that, I do intend to make a SignalK server at some point. Probably soon after I release my new range of NMEA2000 devices later this year. "
