yacht sunk in Hamble

Not necessarily Mr McDoon; depends on how many hulls got t-boned...I guess a 40.7 at full cry would take a bit of stopping.

Sympathy with Rupert and Cathy Smalley a mainstay of Royal Southampton's double handed fleet.

Heard on the radio its the Laser 28, Flying Fish - of Howards Way fame.

That’s a real shame. My son and I are mid way through the whole series at the moment. We, (certainly he as he was born in 93 :) ), didn’t see it all in the 80’s!

I’ll probably have the whole series on DVD’s up for sale by Christmas 

I really like that yacht.

Depends more on the construction. Solid layup multis can sink. But on my foam cored, flood every compartment, and it will still float. According to Mr Quorning, anyway. Don't intend trying.

I suspect if I got walloped by a 40.7 at full speed, I'd end up as a bunch of floating small bits.

> sank within minutes

Now, if they'd been on a trimaran, they'd still be afloat...

(Wait for capsizing flaming)

Perchance you are forgetting about the sinking of the Lynette.

It wasn't Tom's design that was at fault. She hit an object in the water and went down quickly with the loss of the skipper.
