Bananas washing ashore in Selsey will completely baffle the locals. They're used to gathering sea weed to roof their huts, foraging the tide line for shell fish for food or hoping to capture some poor traveller who has strayed South of the A259/A27 and looks plump enough for the cooking pot..![]()
As someone who spent a lot of time at Selsey in the 50's, even attending the local school during diptheria and whooping cough epidemics in London, I think your description is a bit harsh!!
It was a delightful place as a boy.
