yacht share info???

As a newcomer to sailing, I have recently been invited to buy a share in a yacht. Does anyone out there know where I could get any info on the pros & cons of yacht shares and any blueprints as to how the costs / income (possible charter) would be split? Any help much appreciated.

If you're not already a member, join and ask for their information on yacht sharing. You can also call up their solicitor and ask advise from her/him.

I have a third share in a 29 ft yacht and it works well, in our case we are friends and we talk over any problems we have. We do however have a contract taken form the RYA which we refer to if there any any problems. Each of the members of our syndicate has a job, one is in charge of all maintence, one saftey, and I look after all the finance so we always know who to turn to if there is a problem.

The best part of sharing is that you always have a crew to go sailing with.

I think if you are not friends with the other owners you MUST have a firm contract formed so there is an answer to any problems that arise.
