Why would you need a 'ghost address' for Insurance ?? Most I know of accept whatever your real address is .... if they don't - I would expect them to say so.
Because I don't have any other address.

I can't take seriously the idea that there's something dodgy about a mailing service, since they have to comply with similar know-your-customer requirements as banks and other financial institutions - Ghostmail have a copy of my passport on file.

If you insure your car at 123 Posh Close and it's stolen from outside your home as 12 Shady Street then obviously that's going to invalidate a car insurance claim, because the crime rate in the area in which you live is material to the risk of theft. I find it inconceivable that Pants would deny a claim on this basis, for a bunch of reasons - from what I hear the majority of yacht insurers settle claims quickly and without quibbling. I think an insurer would struggle in court if they claimed that the insured's address affected the risk of claims, or that it was a factor they considered when making yacht insurance proposals - it wouldn't be worth trying because it wouldn't be worth the cost of litigating. And finally I'm pretty sure Pants know I'm a fulltime cruising yachtsman because I told them when I requested the original proposal.

I have to admit - that I forgot about those who 'live-aboard' .... then an address service is called for ... I have such for various offices in various countries - but for different reason of course.

But for those who have an address - my experience is that Boat Insurers don't object to your home address being in another state / country. Of course there are some 'arsy' Brit brokers .. but we'll pass them by ...

As i mentioned up thread, Pantaenius UK will not insure anyone with out a UK address, at least that's what they told me.

Actually, they said without a UK residence.., but whether that means they want the insured to be a legal resident.., I don't know.

Pants is one that I personally would not use anyway ... personal bias.

Its a Brit thing - you can approach Nautima in Germany and various other Ins providers who will happily insure your boat and accept that you live somewhere else - within reason of course. You don't have to use Brit Ins for a Brit based boat etc.
Not all Brit Insurers are so restrictive - but it does tend to be.
