12m yacht sank this morning in Port St Mary, Isle of Man, apparently en route from Liverpool to Ardrossan. Believed to be coming into PSM for shelter when it picked up pot markers. 3 crew were taken off but the boat went down, cause as yet unknown.
Watch out for those lobster pots out there.
edit; just found this from the CG.
“Callout: At 05:58hrs this morning the team were asked to respond to a vessel in difficulty near the Carrick in Bay Ny Carrickey, along side Port St Mary Lifeboats. Due to the proximity of the vessel to the Carrick Rock and the onshore heavy swell, the crew of the stricken vessel were taken onto PSM Lifeboat and brought safely ashore. The vessel was left at anchor, but unfortunately broke free and was swept across the Carrick Rock and blown back into the water where she sunk soon after. No debris has been spotted yet.
Well done to Port St Mary Lifeboat for a difficult rescue with three lives saved.
Port Erin Coastguard Team back on station and ready for duty 10:30hrs.”
