Can anyone recommend a yacht charter outfit out of Liverpool, Whitehaven, Holyhead or similar area marinas? Ideally would like to try a few different boats before buying and therefore would like to do a few weekend charters?

What type of boat are you looking for?

Brand new average White yacht, Beneteau type?

High quality Swedish design, likes of Halberg Rassy?

Older 80's 90's type eg westerly, moody?

Or even a big steel blue water yacht?

Edit: sorry read your thread below my understanding is your favoured towards the older and in my opinion better boats :D

Lol gravitating towards the ledger stuff tbh - want something that will sail well above anything else

It's a while since I chartered but there are probably not too many options in the area you're looking at. I think there's a company or two around Conwy - a web search should find them.

There used to be a few boats for charter at Whitehaven but I think that stopped after the owner of the charter company died a few years ago.

This is a good idea. Suggest also you consider Firth of Clyde but if too far a distance, also possible to offer to crew in your preferred areas yacht clubs. Enjoy!

There dont seem to be many that charter older boats that I can find - have found one down in Cornwall that has Sadlers that I may give a try - but other than that drawn a blank

Can anyone recommend a charter company for any type of yachts ie modern / older in the Channel Islands? Preferably Jersey based?

Older boats availability: class associations.

You might try some of the class associations for older boats who may have lists of folk looking for crew. e.g. Contessa 32 association website and of course other classes.

You may be interested on Contessa 32 website, they have a for sale gallery.

You are unlikely to find older boats for charter. The cost of coding and the poor demand means it is not worthwhile. New(ish) boats are usually used because they can take 6+ crew and provide an economic holiday. Also newer boats give less trouble so are more reliable for charterers.
