Friendly and prompt service, seem competitive prices. I have no experience of claims with them so can't comment on that.
Got tired of the previous insurer relentlessly jacking up prices....
Plus the MD is an experenced sailor
Barry is the ex MD of Pants UK. Also I do believe an ex Army Aircorp Helicopter Pilot. A keen sailor who again I believe owns an Oyster Yacht. Y Yachting are one of the only companies willing to cover the Red Sea and has done so for a number of boats on The Red Sea Sailing Safari. According to some of our participants Y Yachting quote was far better than their previous insurers before you added the Red Sea premium. Fortunately no one has yet made a claim (and long may that remain) to do the final and ultimate test on any insurer.
Just to finalise this. I have no interest in Y Yachting other than being insurered by them and having nothing but excellent service and advise.
I've found them a real pleasure to deal with. Friendly, experienced service, all done with a human touch... and their T&C's are a lot better than many other insurers.Any forum members any experience with this company

Very friendly and communicative but actually more expensive than Pants for as close as I could get to like-for-like. They also had an 18 hour single-handed voyage rule that they wouldn't remove.
I had been with Nautical for many years , nothing wrong with them at all. Never claimed.
Changed to Y last year for much the same price.
The reason I did this was Y's clause with reference to the yacht being lost or damaged due to an inadequately maintained 'something'
This was not covered by Nautical but was by Y as far as I could determine.
Don't quote me on the accuracy of the statement given above but it's something like that.
A forum search will reveal several discussions on this topic.
No claim so far with Y.
I would echo the comments here about dealing with them , very easy and professional.
Whilst one has mainly good reports of Y Yacht Insurance, they will, of course, be brokers and not underwriters. Whilst brokers are extremely helpful intermediaries, the decision on pay out is down to the underwriter and you can only judge insurers on their claims payout.
Even Pantanaeius had a couple of years of problems down to their underwriter turning difficult.
It appears, from general report that big insurance companies with a marine arm (Zurich, Lombard) are liable to refer to small print to evade their responsibilities, whilst those with genuine marine underwriters are rather more accomodating.
I tend to judge insurers on their policy wording and their underwriters.
Unfortunately last year's acceptable wording is apt, on renewal to turn into less acceptable wording.
That is the sticking point for me, not that I am any sort of expert or nuffin.
Are they troubled by singlehanding at night?
There must be a lot of us who have issues with this. Personally, 24 hours to get me x- Channel would be fine but they will not budge. Otherwise, communications and policy are very good.
