Here we go again,
Ok it just goes on and on. Again a certain person now puts a very derogative picture of part of my boat in a very public place for buyers to see. It lists my boats name. It is not really what I want buyers to see. It was taken on my boat without my knowledge and posted without my consent. He seams to think it does not matter and has now removed my boats name. but no apology.

It sounds ridiculous but id think twice from posting any negative images of someones property they were trying to sell on a class association page. would you care, or would you not give a dam.

It sounds, on the face of it, like a rather odd thing for someone to do.

Yes: I think I'd be, at least a tad, annoyed.

I don't want to be nosey, but I wonder if you have any idea what might have motivated them to do it?

Oh its just not ever worth going there. The inside of my boat is not a public space is it. so can someone go in to a private space without telling the owner and take pics then post them in the public domain. especially if they can have a negative impact. just a bloody cheek

As I said .... on the face of it, it strikes me as a rather eccentric thing to do.

So, I'm just wondering if there are other issues between you, that might benefit from a bit of ... errrr... 'discussion'?

No ....... I'm not asking what those things are, but it could help to find resolution.

I hope it goes well, and you can sell quickly.

Perhaps the other person thinks that you are trying to seriously mislead prospective purchasers and feels the need to put that right. Or he is about to sell a boat on the same site and doesn't want someone to buy yours when his is better. Either way it is not acceptable IMO and he needs reporting to the webmaster to take those photos down.

No. Its a person who over the years has been a nasty person. you may recall the post when I crewed for him for a week. During that week my 15 year old dog died. Cows week. when the racing had finished I caught ferry back to mainland. train to Bursledon. car 220 miles back home burried the dog. drove back to Bursledon. ferry back to cows. ready for 9am next day. he was drunk and very nasty. not so much as a thanks. same chap that made me feel so dreadful one week this year he made me visit a place ive not been too for years. The same person who with another prominent person in the association has put me down and been rude about me to other members. same person who told me i could not have my boat for sale if it was a pun. Same chap that told me my boat was worth nothing less than a scrap boat. Its gone on and on. who knows what is said to new members. So tired of it.

Heres my boat. it does the talking.

She's a stunningly beautiful looking little ship (yes, yes, I know you know that already).

Just before Xmas, I helped a close friend sell his stunningly beautiful boat. I placed a very honest classsified ad on ebay. She sold very quickly, after survey, at the (very realistic) asking price.

Beforehand, however, I kept getting messages from one particular idiot, who sounds as if he may share some genes with your 'pal'. He kept telling me she was over-priced, that she was a pile of shit, that she'd obviously been really badly cared for, that no-one would even offer ash for her (yes, a s h).

Now, I realise ,of course, that this is very different to your situation, but there are some sad, nasty, ignorant, buggars, around.

I'm not sure what the solution is.

If she were mine, I think I'd try to rise above it: just try to ignore him. I think most serious potential buyers are likely to be able to spot his idiocy.

And I would very strongly recommend a classsified ad on ebay. £9.99 for 4 weeks, and I was amazed at the number of very serious, informed, enquiries. I also placed a similar ad on apolloduck, and had just one, solitary, response.

It's not entirely surprising that people like them end up in those positions. They like a bit of power but don't see that the only reason they're in post is that nobody else wants to do it and can't be bothered to challenge them. Shame because a good class captain can transform the fleet, makes the sailing better and if that gets talked about the values go up. Wins all round.

I'd think you'll get a wider audience in the normal channels anyway, and then you'll get the chance to sell the class before they meet the arse in charge..

Yep thanks for the wise qords. im not in a rush to sell. she has been fully covered for winter and she will sell when she sells. just really dont want niche buyers looking at negative images of my boat posted by someone who should know better. The fact is he didnt. there lies the problem.

Just to be clear, this isn't the Twister Class Association website you are talking about, is it?

I do hope not, because I would be astonished, and saddened, if any owner of Twister disparaged another man's yacht in the way you have described. In the 25 years I have been a member of the TCA I can't remember any instance of anyone being discourteous on the TCA forum.

By the way, I have had a look at your For Sale listing and your Twister 'Helix' looks to be a fine example of her kind: well-equipped and in nice condition. And a bargain at the price you are asking for her.

(I like the way you have mounted your GPS on a panel that swings out into the companionway!)

Thanks. I thought so. The TCA site and TCA forum have been utterly respectful throughout my 5 years.
More fun focusing on the positives, My Trusty Garmin 128. when all else fails its utterly brilliant in simplicity.

He sounds like an arse. But you may want to think about the wisdom of a thread which as it stands suggests that he has revealed things you wanted to hide from potential buyers.

The Guy posted a picture that even an idiot would have known the owner would not like. he was happy to put my boats name on it. An oversight perhaps. But when I politely explained why it was offensive and suggested he cropped it, or changed it or removed it, he argued all night apparently in his own words not knowing what the problem was. Amazingly the only like was from his nasty sidekick. They took it down and removed the comment.

No wisdom in the post at all. I think it was a fine example of someone acting with not an once of common sense.

That sounds like someone who's hoping for a bargain if they can drag you down far enough. I'm all for honest bargaining, but the words to describe the kind of person who'd do that would get me a ban!

Well done for getting the photo taken down
And the posts
Helix looks a v nice Twister and I hope she finds a right buyer
Drunks are weird.
They’re awful and don’t do ‘ reasonable’ and it’s all about them . Best avoided . They will soon find someone else to prop up their bottle
