Thanks. I thought so. The TCA site and TCA forum have been utterly respectful throughout my 5 years.
More fun focusing on the positives, My Trusty Garmin 128. when all else fails its utterly brilliant in simplicity.

Steve ..... sorry to be a bore, but I strongly, strongly, recommended a £9.99 classified ad on ebay (a straightforward advert....... NOT an auction).

My friend's boat that sold is a gorgeous 1963, Mark 2 East Anglian One Design, built by Harry Feltham.

Before Xmas, I also sold my own 1967 built motorboat (down to single-boat ownership now!).

Ebay seems to be so effective, and I am still somewhat incredulous about how quickly both sales were effected: absolutely hassle-free, save the one obvious idiot..

Please do not hesitate to pm me if I can help with anything.

Just to be clear: I am not a yacht broker, I don't own shares in ebay, I am not after any sort of financial gain. It's just a very simple offer of assistance/ ideas.

I think buyers may perhaps want to see more interior photos on your advert?
Indeed, without seeing the 'offending' photo how can we comment. What i would give a DAMN about is that the photo's in the advert could be better. If i were in the market for such a lovely yacht, i'd be asking for many more photo's, with more detail ...and better quality images would just be a bonus. Nowadays a short video walkthrough would be a nice-to-have too. Then you are maximising the interest in the vessel, giving prospective purchasers as much information as possible beforehand - prior to a viewing. This approach minimises the fender kickers and maximises the chances of a serious buyer wishing to view. Then there are no surprises/conflict at the viewing. Anyway, best of luck to the owner with the sale.

That sounds like someone who's hoping for a bargain if they can drag you down far enough. I'm all for honest bargaining, but the words to describe the kind of person who'd do that would get me a ban!

Yes, he was a very strange individual (more often known, colloquially, as a ******* **** or a ******).

I felt sorry for him.

I remained calm and polite throughout, and answered all his questions with an absolutely 'straight bat' (yes, easier to do when it's not your own pride and joy being insulted, maybe).

Of course, eventually, I just blocked him, and she sold very easily (she is in stunning condition, as confirmed when she was surveyed: I was quite tempted myself).

Yes I do

Oh its just not ever worth going there. The inside of my boat is not a public space is it. so can someone go in to a private space without telling the owner and take pics then post them in the public domain. especially if they can have a negative impact. just a bloody cheek

It was only offensive to me. cos it was of my b
Sorry, it wasn't supposed to be a funny comment. Helix looks to be a lovely boat, but buyers like to see photos and I for one would wonder why there are so few of the interior.
Well if you have been on board a Twister there is little to take pictures of. The pic is only offensive to me as its of my boat. it was more offensive I had to spend a night explaining that. not too hard to work out surely for Him I mean.

Yes, just the one: a weirdly energising feeling of liberty and freedom! Only the one lot of maintenance and storage fees to worry about!!

I must get her launched this year: I've missed the last three seasons thanks to my head injury in 2019, then lockdowns.

Warm regards,

Neal

I haven't even mentioned 'the' photo. I've simply tried to offer advice to help you achieve a sale. I have been on a Twister and yes, all sub-mega yachts are tricky to photograph, but by no means is it impossible. Even one additional shot looking in from the companionway would be helpful. (P.S. It would perhaps even be advantageous to post any additional photos here in case any potential buyer is reading this thread!)

I haven’t seen Steve’s ad but I would agree that you can’t have too many pics on a boat for sale page. I must confess to being an armchair fender-kicker though! Boatshed ads win in this respect, even if it’s a humble 17 footer you’ll get about 50 pics of it. Fair play to them.
Sorry for thread drift.

No, good advice Thanks. I always thought and still do advertising my boat where i have, is the best place. limited by number of pics one can post. I send a further 20 or 30 to those interested. Ive not been even showing her over winter as I live a long way away and shes fully winterised. She will sell when she does. I really only like to show her looking her best. Hence why the pic was so offensive to me. all he had to do was say, oh sorry ill crop it rather than asking me what my problem was half a dozen times.

I think most people looking for a boat, say in the £5k - £30k range would be looking at ebay and Apolloduck, therefore if your boat is only advertised on a class association web site you really are losing out on an awful lot of exposure to potential buyers. And any boat for sale will attract more interest if there are a good range of quality photos in the ad itself.

Might I also suggest that as you're selling the boat anyway unless you're planning on remaining a member of the class association why not leave sooner rather than later and forget about the arseholes who are clearly upsetting you...
