Just to enflame it a bit we always look at boat names and it appears that motor boats attract some of the really crass names.

Very often have a chuckle when a funny one calls CG and wonder if when in the drunken stupor of naming the boat they ever realised they would have to broadcast it.

I agree mobo's usually have crass names like " Lady Silencia ", but I remember seeing a yacht called 'Red Alert', I'd love to hear them call up the Coastguard...

Years ago I shared an International 14 dinghy with a chum, bearing in mind a TV soap of the time we painted it yellow and called it 'Cowards Way'.

There's a commercial boat in at Falmouth Marina called 'Cornish Pussy'. On Friday there were men attaching a new cleat to it as we drove by - my 15 son exclaimed, "Look that bloke's screwing Cornish Pussy".

I laughed, but SWMBO wasn't impressed.

Local guy was beaten by his Italian nemesis in the European championships one year... Next year he shows up in a boat called. "Never Let a Day Go By"...

Politically very incorrect.. But I've been putting up with Paddy Irishman jokes all my life.. Nice to take the heat off every now and then!

To my embarrassment I once called the Coast guard to be met with laughter in the background and the statement of ....

"Vessel calling Holyhead coast guard, could you repeat your name please".

"It's Ship with a P" was my reply

I always state her name clearly now :)

I shortened to Gladys, as the original name was Gainsborough Lady, and I couldn't bear the thought of phonetic spelling over the radio... G(ainsborough)Lady S(outhwold)
