Heard two boats calling the coastguard in the BC over the weekend - Ivor Bigun and Cleavage. SWMBO wanted to know what the preoccupation with body-parts was is that part of the world!:D

I agree mobo's usually have crass names

I wouldn't go as far as "usually", but it does seem that the tasteless names are more likely to be painted on a motorboat. There's a "Weekend Bird" moored near me.

A mate recently bought a small plastic speedboat (see my thread on the Mobo forum) which currently has no name. I don't know if he's planning to name it (he is planning to get a VHF and it'd be a bit awkward to have to use the callsign every time) but it seems like the kind of boat for which a comedy (but hopefully not crass) name is more suited.

When I bought my first boat (an Etap, I am from NZ, but live in France) I tried to register the name "Rainbow Warrior II".

The Douanes thought it very amusing but they wouldn't let me register the name...

Tis truly a Mobo thang

Seen on a recent visit to Porte Solente;
"Betty Swollocks"
Large non moving 'party' mobo apparently per nearby berth holders, unlike the RMYC mobo which was its berth mate:D

there's that Charter rod boat in Ramsgate;
'The Dogs..' and relevant logo of UJ'd Bulldog next to that.
There again, it was Ramsgate:rolleyes:

We saw her leaving Port Solent this morning as we approached the lock. Large party on the flybridge. Got a wave from the helm as we passed, she obviously goes out from time to time.

It's the return to it's berth in a bit of breeze that provides the interest, apparently.
When the name kicks in perhaps?
Still, so long as they don't need to call the CG, whatever tickles the driver's sense of humour-we tend to do our boat name puns etc in Latin, so live and let smirk, I say:D
