Do I just have to take these to the tip, or is there an after-life somewhere for them? As garden sun-shades?
 
They're excellent for covering piles of firewood. Dust sheets whilst decorating. Just don't hoist them as sails.
 
I had the worn leech cut out of our old jib and now leave it on the boat in the winter for occasional use. The main was too far gone and sits in the garage sulking.

What about making up an emergency collision patch or whatever it's called?
 
I use an old Genoa as a ground-sheet on which to wash/scrub the current sails: and made storage-bags for kit in the loft from the oldest storm-jib.
