Having read TCM's predicament with the rocker covers, I thought I'd share some of my experiences with you, with respect to the phrases women may use in similar situations:
"Fine"
This is a word, used by females to finish an argument when they think they are right and believe it is time that you shut your mouth. Never use ”Fine” to describe the looks of a female, you’ll only end up with another argument.
"Five minutes"
This you can assume as meaning half an hour. This can be compared with your ” in five minutes” answer when she asks you to take the rubbish out, whilst you are watching a game on TV. (equality perhaps...)
"Nothing"
This does actually mean ”Something” and you’d better be on the alert. ”Nothing” is normally used to describe the feeling she has when really wanting to nail you to the wall. ”Nothing” is a good indication on a pending argument, which will last ”Five minutes” and end with the word ”Fine”.
"Do as you please" (with raised eyebrows)
This is a challenge! A challenge which normally will result in that the woman gets crossed about ”Nothing” and will probably end with the word ”Fine”.
"Do as you please" (normal)
This means that the woman states ”I give up” or ”do what the hell you like, I do not care”. This will be followed shortly by a "Do as you please" (with raised eyebrows) followe by a "Nothing" and ”Fine” and she will speak to you in ”Five minutes” when she has calmed down a bit.
"Loud sigh”
This is not really a word as such, but a non-verbal declaration which usually is mis-understood by men. A "Loud sigh” means that she currently beleives you are a complete idiot and she is wondering why she is wasting her precious time discussing ”nothing” with you.
"Quiet sigh"
Again, not a word, but a non-verbal declaration. A "Quiet sigh" is a sign that the woman is content. The best thing you can do to keep her like this is to keep still and hold your breath.
"Thats OK"
This is one of the most dangerous phrases a woman gives to a man. "Thats OK" means that she wishes to evaluate the situation, think about what you have done to her and decide your punishment for whatever you have done. "Thats OK" is often used with the phrases ”Fine” and "Do as you please" (with raised eyebrows). You should expect serious trouble in the not too distant future.
"Of course you may"
This is not a statement. This is a woman giving you the opportunity to to expalin your reasoning for, or to formulate an apology for whatever you have done. You do have a reasonable chance to tell the truth, but be very careful. The aim here is to formulate yourself so you can avoid the answer ”Fine”.
"Thankyou"
A woman shows her appreciateion.....don’t be suprised, just reply ”you’re welcome”
"Thank you very much"
Now, this is something entirely different than ”Thankyou”. A woman uses the phrase "Thank you very much" when she is furious with you. This shows that you have insulted her, and been very insensitive towards her. "Thank you very much " will normally be followed by a "Loud sigh”. Be careful when you ask a woman what is wrong after a "Loud sigh” as she most likely will answer ”Nothing”
