One slight disadvantage is that a few boats have caught fire and burnt to the waterline due to faulty de-humidifiers.
at least it gets rid of the mould.

Which implies marinas should stay open. From the RYA FB page:
Sport England has today confirmed that boaters in England can continue to exercise on the waterways during the current lockdown, so long as you’re doing so:
? on your own
? with the people you live with (your household)
with your support bubble
?on your own and with one person from another household – this could be a coach for 1:1 coaching.
.
The lockdown started yesterday so what anyone did before yesterday is not relevant.has anyone actually been out with their boat in the last few days and any probs with the marina staff / harbour master ?

I seem to remember my Mum and Dad who started with GRP boats in the 1960's took all the soft furnishings home and used multiple non power driven dehumidifiers with absorbent beads in them??The mould that requires the extensive and expensive countermeasures such as de humidifiers and tube heaters must obviously be "Pretiosa Marina Fingunt"
curiously only to be found in certain rather exclusive locations.
This malady usually can be recognised by the presence of a card operated security gate at the entrance to any car park.
The only known cure is large amounts of 240 V AC via a shore power cable.
How the rest of the boating world manages to keep their boat interiors sweet and clean is a total mystery , especially before shore power was invented . ?![]()
Going on Monday (I should be less conspicuous) to do last bits as I have new hip scheduled for 19th and was tied up with a close family funeral until late on Wednesday - if I get fined so be it............. I cant rely on an "unlocked" Christmas as if my hip happens I'll be laid up for 8 weeks as well. Now ashore and managed to get down today and removed sails etc and ready for winter. Had to do it asap as I'm due a new knee on the 21st( lockdown mk2 permitting...) and I'll be unable to do much for about 8 weeks.

No logic in that . I enjoy doing maintenance so it is recreation .Seems like you can go down to your boat for sailing but not for any repairs or maintenance preparatory to that sailing
