As title!
Or, are all the locks between Teddington and Oxford electric?
Will I need them for emergency backup?

All the locks up to Oxford are powered .... or at least, they're supposed to be :)

I thought that was the case :) If they're not powered then, does that mean I'd need them then?
Really just wondering whether to keep hold of them or stick them on ebay. The new boat won't go through any of the Medway locks so apart from Thames trips, I have no use for them.

All should be powered, if for any reason they are not operational on power they all have their own winding handles on them, no need for a windlass.

Hi, Godstow lock is the highest powered lock, upstream of that they are all beamed and hand wind. And quite easy to do yourself should the locks be on self-service! Well, I managed ok!

Thanks all, that does leave me in a bit of a dilemma though!

As an angry fisherman and rower, should I just throw them at myself and cut out the middle man? :D

You could also use them on wayward swimmers too! I had 5 lads leaping off Godstow bridge last week just as I was passing through. Sadly they thought swimming around me was funny and didn't heed my warnings!

Stuff that! I guess some people just have absolutely no idea. I wouldn't want to be anywhere even remotely near the rear end of my boat when those monster food blenders are churning away

A bit of neutral and 'turbo clearing' normally dissuades any living creature from within 50 yards of Fifty Shades, once those TAMD40'b's have done their stuff!!

It has been known to disrupt landings at Heathrow too... :encouragement:
