whenever i tried to radio in or phone berthon they didnt seem to bother responding, forget dan bran mostly rented to clubs or rallies at weekends yacht haven is best bet.
Went up to the haven easter bank holiday seemed to lack any atmosphere no food axcept a pizza van downstairs and you could bring it back up to eat at the table.
no sign of chris evens though unless he was in the pizza van , why on earth would he get involved in a small venture like the haven he is worth bundles, word has it he doesnt do boating anymore

question answered, I would add we have stayed on Dan Bran pontoon on numerous occasions over the years, in fact I have never not been able to berth there when I have the desire, you must have been unlucky. But I don't like the Yacht Haven, so as you say each to their own.

Evocative video Henry - thanks for that.

We bought our current boat from Lymington and spent a few weekends there and had a couple of trips out, great place but we just currently live in the wrong part of the country.

Each to their own, we regularly use the Yacht Haven, super friendly staff, seem to have increased the pontoon lengths also to accommodate bigger 50+ ft boats.

The defining moment for us was arriving with the bilge alarms going off, a sheared heads skin fitting one Friday night (well out of hours) and them having the lift hoist operator back on site and us safely lifted out of the water in pretty much the time it took us to get the boat to the hoist dock. The hoist operator even phoned an engineer he knew and arranged for him to meet me at the boat in the morning, he had the skin fitting replaced and we were back in the water by mid-morning on Saturday!

They even discounted the emergency lift out cost (which was not much more than a usual lift out price) by the special offer discount that the had running at the time and refunded the nights berthing fee as the boat was hanging in the hoist!

That's good to hear of such service. We've never stayed at LYH always used Berthon but fair play to them on that job.

In my opinion there is only one gorgeous marina in Lymington it's the one nearest the sea, spent most of my childhood in Berthons it's Ok but the poor relation as a spot to the other place

In my previous job I spent a lot of time at Lymington Yach Haven, never experienced Berthon as they don't allow contractors, the team at LYH were allways one of the best you could ever wish for, nothing was ever a problem, some times I used to turn up during the night for fuel when on delivery trips and the service from the night staff was just as good, they were all more than helpfull. That's why when on holiday I book into there aswell, its also convenient for dog walking along Solent way.

I was in the Angel and Pig on Saturday with my colleague apart from the odd looks of disgust (she is blonde and half my age) we somehow managed to rack up 130 quid bill. It was however very good both in terms of service, the wine, the food and the atmosphere. So much so I may even take the wife...

I have not yet tried the joint venture with Mr Evans but I have heard good things so far BUT as I have said not tried it yet.

so she is still @skool then :disgust:

What do you expect him to say that's its ****, assuming he is just promoting the place, good luck to him, if I was in his shoes I would do the same , as would you probably

I would indeed expect him to push it as he has an interest in it. I will try it next time I am down. Good luck to him. If you follow him on twitter he mentions it quite a lot.
