Um, should we now do the bit about correct use of 'chandler' and 'chandlery'?

Chandler is a person, Chandlery is a business - there!! that was quickly resolved.

So strictly speaking we should always use an additional noun as in Boat Chandler etc

by that simple logic a Flybridge is a type of motor yacht and a Flying bridge (on a boat before we get the obvious!) is just that, as described.

When I sailed the seas on giant oiltankers, the flying bridge usually referred to the raised gangway between the after and midships accomodation blocks.

The following definition I find quite droll:

Flying-bridge - Poser platform on plastic fantastic. Best used for G & T when there is no 'R' in the month.
