<font color=blue>Depends who's boat it is, what the alignment of the planetary propensity is when the moon is in conjunction with Pluto and someone peering up Uranus.
I'm reasonably sure they can 'cos flybridge is just a shortened version of flying bridge. Flying Bridge being the definition of an open air boat bridge situated above the main bridge.
Anyway, I like Byron's answer better

Well they're not exactly traditional terms are they? Compared to "Boater" and "Pushpit", (both excruciating), they are wonders of descriptive perfection and I don't have a problem with either. (You needed that assurance I'm sure).

Pushpit is a raggie term for the rail thingie around the back of a sailing boat. Thread about origination of these terms going on over there at the moment
Yes but "pullpit" is based on its shape being similar to the device of the same name in church, it has nothing to do with pulling and therefore its opposite cannot be "push". Anyway there is a name for the rail around the stern of your boat and it's called a taffrail, no need for daft new inventions.
BTW this response isn't personal, just my fuddy duddy gripe. Likewise "Boater" is a hat and Sailors are what we are, generic to power or sail.

Similarly a Butcher in a Boater sitting on the lap of a sailor is not neccessarily a Yottie he could be just a gay butcher.
...it's fair to say that flybridge is the most appropriate term to use for modern motorboats. Certainly that is the style that we have used on magazines for at least a couple of decades now.
Flying bridge = an auxiliary bridge of a vessel, usually built above or far outboard of its main bridge.
Please don't mistake me for anyone who gives a damn. My post was no more than a jocular riposte to PaulineB to put her on the right track.
It is usually a pretty safe prractice to chastise me for lack of boating knowledge, especially if you are experienced cos I'm thick and don't care.
However as one who presumably makes a living out of the sea, you really should know that a 'Pushpit' is now accepted terminology ( if you don't believe me ask someone who you know and respect) .
