Hi All
I have a beneteau 473 and I am looking for a new anchor with good holding.
I have considered the Delta 30kg and the Mason suprem 27kg
Does anyone have any preference or can recommend either both are similar in price new or if anyone has a second hand one for sale.

I apprieciate all the comments
Thank you Nick

Assuming you're not trying to start a big anchor thread, the Manson came out better in the YM tests than the Delta but either will work fine if they are the size specified for your boat.

Bear in mind that all anchor tests are a straight line increasing load. I don't trust any of the tests because at anchor the loads are angled snatch loads.

Before the clamouring starts and every anchor under the sun is discussed, PLEASE bear in mind that the OP has put his personal consideration between the Delta and the Manson and is specifically asking about people's experiences of THOSE TWO ANCHORS!

The RNLI use Deltas - 'nuff said? Admittedly they don't anchor overnight too often!

I had a Delta. It dragged. I bought something very like a Manson. ;) it doesn't drag.

Just seen TK 's post. Yes, it is a Rocna. It works fine.

On other threads people say we should support our local chandlers. Well, one way you can do this is to buy a Rocna from them. They will then have a big order for CMP and should therefore be able to cut some sort of deals on returns. If you buy something else on principle they will have no negotiating position.

Imagine,

So, on the evidence based so far - it seems that the experienced opinion is that Deltas drag.

Ignoring any goading about other Anchors, that leaves the Manson to discuss in order to help you with your original question....

Anyone care to assist the OP with positive/negative experience of the Manson? That way, this Anchor thread can close quickly, quietly and happily, to the relief of Many, I'm sure!

Ok as long as you bear in mind that ANY testing is better than hearsay and Internet forums :) it's too expensive to personally test them all and this is the best info available so I'm happy to trust it.

What complete and utter twaddle. OP for god sake don't by a Rocna - they are underspeced - designed to have a much stronger shank. As I said before - in the UK either delta of Manson, in the Med - Manson - delta not good in soft mud and will plough through mud in extremis.

All anchors will drag under some circumstances. The trick is to get one that resets well. The delta does so better than CQR and Manson better again. Unfortunately with the exception of the CQR you get what you pay for so money is often the main driver when buying.

PLEEEASE don't let this go the way of all the other anchor threads...

The OP didn't ask about a Rocna, a Bugel, a CQR, a Fortress, a Lump of rock, a spade, a tractor axle or a Grapnel...

The OP is considering either a Delta or a Manson Supreme, and wants to know people's experiences with those anchors, can the feathers stand to be unruffled long enough so he can get an answer?

There's only one way to find out:
