Where has the JST post gone?

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

Keep up - it's Dan now

Personally, I don't want charities advertising on the forum. Where do you draw the line, which do you allow and which don't you allow?

I have chosen the charities I want to support and I donate to them in the most cost effective way - that's not random appeals on here. It becomes a bit like a work colleague sticking a sponsorship form under your nose at work for their child you never knew existed.

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

Alant said "Pls dont kill the messenger!"

I don't think anyone is having a go at you. We just don't think it should have been pulled. Is there anyone who objects? If not, will the moderators rethink this please?

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

I think the JST should be allowed to post on this forum and ask the administrators to make them and the Tall Ships people (used to have Winston Churchil and the Malcom Millar) exceptions to any rules that might exist.

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

I think there's a difference between charities asking for money and sailing organizations offering spare berths to forum members.

I think the other forumites who sailed to Lisbon with me last year would agree.

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

There was no 'random appeal' on here. It was a simple notification that berths were available on a very well known vessel that does a remarkable job.

Personally, I am disgusted that it was pulled and dissapointed that the moderators have not even attempted to defend their action.

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

As I understand it, the same post appeared on more than one forum, so it was removed from here and left on the other forum.

The fact that it's a charity/good cause/worthwhile didn't figure in the decision to pull it. If there are multiple messages about the same thing replies get duplicated and the whole process is more complicated than it needs to be.

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

Keith

Thank you for reading and responding to this thread.

So what you are saying is that the only reason it was pulled was because it was a multiple post?

If that is the case would you consider that the best place for this type of post might be Scuttlebutt? The reason for me suggesting that is because Scuttlebutt has the greater exposure. People who view the mobo site Pbo or Classic boat are most likely to visit Scuttlebutt but not visa versa.

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

OK, thanks for clarifying.

But I agree with Galadriel that either sb or pbo would be more appropriate than classic boat.

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

Yes, it's of no benefit when there are multiple posts, (because the answers get duplicated etc.). It wasn't pulled because of commercial reasons. I've moved it to S'butt from CB.

Re: Where has the JST post gone? - pulled!

Hi, My name's Keith and I'm a bit of an idiot.

Despite my earlier claim being incorrect I have now moved the JST post back into S'Butt...

Thanks Galadriel /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
