Sounds like Tahiti if you add rain and it turns out its French being .....spoken.

Nah, Tahiti is now officially a suburb of Paris and is being concreted over to make space for an Olympic Broadcasting Centre, Athlete's Village, McDonald's and Fan Zone sponsored by whichever beer paid IOC the most.

Great place to buy black pearl earrings as a gift for your wife when you've been on a long delivery.

I'm sure the Paris 2024 delegation will be buying them. Not sure how they're marketing as Greenest Olympics ever and then hosting some sports in Tahiti.

That ICOM 706 looks familiar too. (G4BXS/MM or VP8CQZ/MM if my Falkland Isles call is still valid. )
Off topic alert
I received a letter in 20/21 from the FIG saying they were cleaning up things and that I should send a copy of my licence to show I was still alive.
As my licence was on my boat and I was in Oz I sent them a note saying I wanted to keep it - never heard anything more. ( there is a complete listing somewhere on the net of all calls valid and otherwise )
I see there was a bit of a fuss about the whole business . Non-resident lifetime Falkland Islands VP8 licences - common sense prevails

I also recall being told that you couldn't use a VP8 as an MM for some reason due to them not being signatory to something or other.

Back on topic-
If you are thinking of going to the Falklands the pic below pretty much covers it - the Cathedral and the shop, the bank is just out of frame to the right, 'The Globe' to the left and thats about it - except for the penguins - they are on the reverse of the card.

It's an age-old maritime query, so let's pose that question to ourselves.

Just imagine you'd become the owner of an ocean-capable yacht, wellfound, stocked up, and ready in all respects for sea - something like a Lello34, f'r instance - in a marina in Lanzarote....
And you found yourself musing over where you'd really like to go in her.

Thinking just a bit like Moitessier - and maybe Mark Sinclair - where might you head for....?

Straight out of the marina into an anchorage via few days out at sea away from land, then everything makes a bit more sense.. ?

But a question which has become of more interest as an extended refit comes to an end.... lets go all the way! Which ends up as Capes or Canal? ?

But that's a question to be answered later, atm on a calm sunny warm morning south america again & south africa would be interesting.

Imho any kind of precise planning is very over rated, if you plan to such detail you might be silly enough to try to stick to them when it's obviously not such a good idea any more. Plan to look at the real world ?

Probably Antigua, and there to sit a while and ponder on whether I am brave enough for Panama and onwards, singlehanded, or will settle for some beachcombing in the BVIs.

The 'Bocas Del Toro Archipelago' is reportedly rather beautiful and unspoiled by 'the herd'..... but that may now have changed as I've heard of 'em.

The Lord’s english is a bit rubbish. I suppose we should make allowances for a foreigner though.
Would you prefer Bunyan?
The Pilgrim's Progress said:
BUT now, in this Valley of Humiliation, poor Christian was hard put to it; for he had gone but a little way before he espied a foul fiend coming over the field to meet him: his name is Apollyon. Then did Christian begin to be afraid, and to cast in his mind whether to go back or to stand his ground. But he considered again that he had no armor for his back, and therefore thought that to turn the back to him might give him greater advantage with ease to pierce him with darts; therefore he resolved to venture and stand his ground; for, thought he, had I no more in mine eye than the saving of my life, it would be the best way to stand. So he went on, and Apollyon met him. Now, the monster was hideous to behold: he was clothed with scales like a fish, and they are his pride; he had wings like a dragon, and feet like a bear, and out of his belly came fire and smoke; and his mouth was as the mouth of a lion. When he was come up to Christian, he beheld him with a disdainful countenance, and thus began to question with him:

Apollyon. Whence come you, and whither are you bound?

Chris. I am come from the City of Destruction, which is the place of all evil, and am going to the City of Zion.

I'm not a radio ham, but all British Antarctic Survey aircraft are registered in the Falklands, with VP registrations. I guess I was privileged there - BAS personnel tend to be regarded as honorary kelpers.
