I think I’d head south to Cape Verde and then think about southern America. Not ever had that make that decision but have dreamt of doing so.

I have just begun reading "The Misty Islands" by Miles Smeeton in which he describes visiting Japan in Tsu Hang.

That would be an interesting destination.

For a forieign shore taster………North Coast of Spain, appearing and disappearing behind the swell, and gradually as the sun comes up the feignt shape of the land, later in the day landfall and people speaking an unfathomable language?
Sounds like Tahiti if you add rain and it turns out its French being .....spoken.

The way things are going I suspect l’d be aiming for habitual zones with pockets of survivors, keeping a close eye on the weather and the Geiger counter.

First time we sailed into N Spain 1980!
I was the not quite teenage navigator with a plastic sextant and Blewitt and a reliable walker log, some ok dead reckoning , we had no inshore chart , except the admiralty pilot.
“In bad weather many lighthouses become lost in the cloud .. etc “

couldn’t lay Estaca de wotsit with an adequate accurate margin , it was November and blowing up pretty nasty from the wsw .. so we scooted into a place I still have difficulty finding on Google earth but it had a breakwater and water clear enough to safely come in , round up , anchor and dry out ( wooden leaker ?)…
then ashore .. pure bliss , Spanish accebts , fresh bread , friendly fishermen . Then the wind wound round to the nw as we knew it would , and it really started to blow.
We didn’t care .
Welcome to proper foreign cruising !

Iirc San Cyprian, or Ciprao ?? Ring any bells?
Now got a big industrial harbour adjacent I think ..
