Where can I get a GPS set with an external aerial, 12V and preferably a differential GPS set.

My current set is a MLR with differential and works a treat but if it fails I do not want to have unnecessary stuff on it such as chart plotting. Just the basics will do. NMEA outputs of course and monochrome preferred.

As an aside I am surprised that the differential system is still on air if no one makes a set for it?

I have a bad feeling that nothing suitable exists these days, so let me know if it is actually out there.

Differential GPS has largely been superceded in leisure boating by WAAS and EGNOS, which offer good accuracy.

If you want a simple fixed unit, look at the Garmin 152 which has a good-definition screen.

external aerial

You no longer need to have a GPS with external aerial. Whilst my original Garmin and a later Navman only worked unreliably in the cabin my latest Garmin (admittedly a plotter ) even works brilliantly inside our house, let alone in the cabin.
