An ancient bronze horse, which I found half-buried in a Suffolk river bank. It's the same pattern as the sacred horse upon Icenae coins, and according to DNA I am directly descended from that tribe, or possibly their neighbours the Trinovantes.

It's 'lucky' you were following your ancestral traditions of grubbing around in the dirt, otherwise you would never have found it!

Our island is an archeologist's paradise and we are the custodians of priceless irreplacable history, which in my case at least, runs in the blood.
You are quite right that our ancient tribal history involved 'grubbing around in the dirt' as you put it, (a better description might be expertly foraging our fertile foreshores..) and my granny, great-granny and 100's if not 1000's of ancestors spent their days on the marshes of what we now call Norfolk.
Think what other undiscoverd treasure lie below our feet.

So far, my health.
When so many family members, peers and friends are either turning up their toes, going demented or suffering chronic illness, I thank my lucky stars I'm (reasonably) fit and healthy. Nothing else matters.

My ancient Musto Snug jacket with the red fluffy lining. The zip tag is Monel seizing wire, much of the shell is blue spinnaker tape, some of the rest is varnish, but it just keeps going.
