Whats a Duck Punt worth?

I built one last year, finished it off this spring but for various reasons haven't had a chance to put it in the water yet.... and the way life is going at the moment I'm not sure when I will.... and I'm running out of space

Its a little unique in that its been built to the standard shape and size but from 3mm ply... and then I've added tanks front and rear for buoyancy. I was going to use it on a busy river estuary and didn't fancy being swamped in the middle of a deep water channel.

So its unique.... is it worth selling or should I just sling a tarpaulin over it and wait until the time when I will get to go playing in it.

Thanks... but Its amazing how many sailors are keen to look after it for me.

I guess they must change hands from time to time, any one got a ball park figure for me?

I had considered Ebay but as they don't come up that often how many people are actually watching out for one on there. As you say I guess if I do stick it up for auction and post some thing on a couple of forums then there is half a chance that some one who will actually appreciate it will find it.

I'll try and find some time at the weekend to take some pics

For some reason, everytime I've passed over the title to this thread I've been thinking...

"how many ducks could a duck punt duck, if a duck punt could duck ducks?

But there has to be a really really rude version in there some where.

Sorry yes your right. Its half the original thickness, 6mm ... I halved it again!! But to be honest its still well over engineered at that. The tanks for and aft also add considerably to the strength

And it comes with everything except the paddle.... Brand new sail, good spars and all the rope you need to hold it all together.

I have been rather tied up since posting this thread but when the sun comes out i will take some pics and stick it on Ebay to see what happens.

1) Decide how much you're willing to sell it for.

2) Put it as an auction on ebay, without reserve, and with the right to withdraw it from sale.

3) Sit back and see what happens. If bidding goes above the price acceptable to you, then sell it. If it doesn't, then withdraw it, and have a rethink.
 
If you put it on eBay make sure you have worked out which exclusion from CE Conformity you will claim.
I put my trimaran on and got a couple of snotty messages from knobs claiming they were going to report me to "the Authorities".
My craft was based around an existing ply skiff so was effectively over 5 years old.

h) craft intended for commercial purposes (apart from boats used for hire, charter or
recreational boating training).
i) submersibles.
j) air cushion vehicles.
k) hydrofoils.
l) steam powered craft, fuelled by coal, coke, wood, oil or gas.
m) original and individual replicas of historical propulsion engines, which are based on a
pre-1950 design and fitted in craft referred to in e) or g).

That's probably what I'll do but I don't like auctions with a reserve, or that get removed when the seller doesn't get what they want. I'd just stick it up for the minimum I'd accept then let it run through to the end. If it doesn't sell then its no loss, and if I get any more then its a bonus.

£600 because thats the opening price, 0 bids because that's how Ebay works (everyone bids at the end)

14 people watching though already, which as most of the country wont have a clue what a Duckpunt is, is pretty good going.
