What weight for a kedge ?

SWMBO always volunteers to swim and check the main anchor before I switch the engines off.
Recently, when she returns, she has been given the end of the floating rope and told to continue swimming to the rocks.
Just as well she isn't going to read this!!
She sounds like a keeper, M;)

If it's just to keep the boat from swinging in the wind especially in the Med here is my take. You only need a light anchor and the rode can be rope, mostly this is deployed so boats in the Med can pack themselves close together and keep the stern to the beach for easy access. The stern anchor tends to either go on the beach or in shallow water. I would recommend a folding grapple anchor, the flukes on a folding grapple only open on the sand side. This means no paddler will be injured from standing on your anchor.

Yup -here's a pic illustrating I think your point .

You may recognise the beach ,only accessible by boat ( pvt land ) -- to the R of shot is Frances , Presidents summer residence . (Windsor eq ?) A further 5 miles or so E or our position is Lavandou and Bormes -- I suspect you know well ?

You can see in the some smaller rib,s day boats v near the beach . They clear off at 6. p m btw

We were in 2-3 M that far out, and happy to swing .

Its Le Fort de Brégançon. But our favorite place is about two beaches to the left, its called Plage de Léoube and is owned by JCB. All in all a beautiful cruising ground and I believe it's the best in the world, if you ever grow tired of the fabulous beaches then you go five miles to L’île de Porquerolles. I've been cruising here for ten years and look forward to it everyday.
