Re: Yes

ahh now you are not the type of boater i mean by a water gypsy, you go out to work, & pay your dues. Accept your difficulties re non availability of non residential moorings, another hot topic. You must have seen the type of boater I mean, curtains closed all day, bikes, wood, general grot & god knows what on the boat roof, not pretty. (mind you there is a narrowboat near me that literally has a lawn on its roof, & he mows it & thats actually very nice !)

as I have said before lots of people live on their boats in my marina, and they go out on the canal for months at a time, but mainly live/stay there, cos there's electricity & GREEN BOX's. ah yes those small sheds that hold all the boaters essentials like high pressure washers....

Why another site???

We have a site for liveaboards here. What your pedantic definition of "liveaboard" is your opinion. Others have theirs.
You are saying because peeps dont meet your criteria then they should not be allowed to post.
So going down that road are you also saying that because I am a sail boat owner I cant post on mobo - cos if you are you are talking bo**ox. IMHO.

No, No, No, No, Thats not what is being said! Liveaboards, liveaboard! I spend the whole summer and most of the spring and autunm cruising, as most I know do, winter is maintenace time for me. If people live on a boat which goes nowhere and stays tied up permanently, they are living in a floating house! Not liveaboards, just trying to live cheap. Almost everybody on this site are cruising liveaboards or want to be. IMHO Do try to keep up! Tee hee

A hot debate this one !

I'm with Temptress. My plan is to voyage, but by definition I will be a 'live aboard'

On the whole I think this forum embraces both, however a 'Voyagers' forum would certainly interest me.

Oh and when I tell my friends and family of my plans to travel they think I'm nuts. They can not easily grasp and accept the concept, so I say I'm going to live on a boat and travel the world like a Sea Gypsy!

Most people here, voyage or want to or are planning to. I respectfully suggest you read some more of the thread.

This thread is getting far too close to navel gazing! I diagnose a severe case of the winter blues. I don't know about anyone else....but I'm losing the will here....

i look on with wonder. will we discover a reason for the desire to define this term? so far i have come up with the following possibilities-

someone is compiling a new dictionary

to define who isn't entitled to post in this forum

to engender a feeling of superiority over others

come on, give us a clue.

Isn't it that we just can't resist an argument? And these really anal topics make for the best arguments of all. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

No matter that certain contributors have argued at different points from completely contradictory standpoints. It takes our minds off the real worry in life, i.e. what to get SWMBO for Xmas.

Oh. I've solved that problem....Nowt!!

Now back to the real problem.

When is a live aboard not a live aboard.

What qualifies as Live aboard.

How long before one becomes a live aboard.

Can one own a house and also be a live a board.

At what point am I not a live aboard.

Does a mounths holiday qualify??

<hr width=100% size=1> No one can force me to come here. I'm a volunteer!!.
