Sorry about the delay in replying. Other things getting in the way of the important stuff!
I think that much as we love each other, a Twister might be pushing it a bit! Nice boats though.
Some useful feedback for which I'm grateful - not found exactly what we want yet but we have identified a few possibles. The Seadog 30 and the Golden Hind 31 are sitting neck and neck at the top of the list at the moment. Neither ticks all the boxes accomodation wise but both meet most of the major criteria.
Next step is to get the love of my life out and about to look at some possible boats - she struggles to translate photos or drawings into a mental picture of what it's actually like so before she can really figure out what's essential and what she can do without we need to go crawl around some yachts!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I'm toying with building from scratch - possible a Golden Hind 34 or a Bruce Roberts Spray. Has the advantage of being able to design pretty much exactly the accommodation plan that we want but I'm not at all sure that it's within our means financially nor am I 100% certain I want to spend several years building a boat when I could be out there sailing on one someone else built!!!
A Westerly Cirrus is 22 ft and would therefore be too small. I looked at several catamarans recently, all costing between £25 and £30K. Beforehand I had been convinced that this would be the way forward in terms of accomodation. However I was wrong. Neither my family or I liked the fact that when in the saloon there was no standing headroom. My wife in particular is not overly keen on heeling, but having seen these catamarans now accepts that a larger monohull is our next choice. Cats viewed include HT, Prout 26, Catalac 8m, Aristocat(probably our favourite of the ones that we viewed), and a couple of others.
