Re: SOLT**N In petrol?

Yep, the one in the piccie. It's certainly no Leopard, about 1500kg all up.

At a consumption of 1gal/mile, what's £30 for a bottle. Should last you over 500 miles. If you don't see any benefit in that time, don't buy any more! I'll keep using the stuff this season and see how it goes.

From what I've read about your exploits, you been out in rough stuff, you might do better than 1gal/mile when we get those glorious summer days.

Re: S£$%^)n ban vote

Use it in diesel, use it in petrol, use it in your outboard, use it in your home heating, your lawnmower, your leopard, your motorbike, your scooter, your wife, your next-door neighbour, kills all known bugs, keeps your engine clean, works out at a few pence per gallon - hey, you non-believers, have you actually tried it?

No Kim, don't ban it, it cuts air pollution by 75% and is also safe to touch, breathe in etc, unlike some of the biocides available.
what's more important, pennys in your pocket,or cleaner environment?

Re: SOLT**N In petrol?

True I'm hoping for better than 1gal/1mile in Summer <G>. I want to get a baseline before I start trying additives - except for Activ8 which I know to be terrific on Petrol engine.

Cheers,

Re: Reality check!

Rich, let's keep this a bit sensible and scientific. You say "cuts air polution 75%". That's comparable to what US emissions regs have required engine manufacturers to do over the last 10 years or so. Do you really think they would have spent $billions if they could have just bunged soltron in the fuel?

What can anyone say about soltron and its pollution reduction/fuel economy abilities, that has been proven properly and doesn't just consist of anecdote, hearsay or gossip?

Re: Reality check!

Just cos something is out there that is good doesnt mean these companies can have it just coz they want it. EG If these bug filters are so good why dont all the engine manufacturers except Volvo have them as standard?

Life is not so simple. there is a lot about Soltron the co. we are prob not privvy to so I dont think it is as black and white as you make it out to be.

Snake Oil, hmmmm now where have I heard that said before I wonder?

So have you tried it or just spoken to a chum on the forum and decided to take his side on the matter I wonder. Do you judge everything without trying it or investigating to see if it works. If so then good luck to you, you have obviously got this far by doing it that way.

At least LJS can say he tried it for a certain reason and it didnt work for him, I respect him for that. How many of you who put it down have actually tried it in your boats?

Re: In support of JohnR

Whhooooaaa Depsol! Dont claim the high ground just because you use it and perhaps JohnR doesn't. AFAIK none of you, the manufacturer, nor anyone else has come up with anything more than anecdote about the claim that is easiest to prove/disprove, namely the fuel economy gains. I am sceptical about the stuff as you know, but that's because I have done an at least half arsed test (over 100 hours -an entire boating season - in a diesel engine) and found precisely zero benefit based on careful measurement. If the claims of 10%+ improvement were really true it would be pretty easy to prove, yet no-one has? So, until the supporters come up with something better, please don't attack the sceptics. :)

If I knew what the bloody stuff was, what it does and where to buy it should it do whatever it is claimed to do and should I then want it - fine. I have used biocides for years and they work; any other additives that I have used in petrol and burning oil over the years seem to be a waste of time and money - IMHO. If you care to mail me the data sheets I'll read them, together with all the other bumph from various manufacturers that I am wasting a sunny Sunday afternoon reading and discarding.

I have now looked at the manufacturers website and I am now sceptical of the whole thing.

>>Q: How is Soltron™ directed for sales and distribution?
A: Product distribution is currently being supported through a network of channels to create massive sales exposure, both nationally and internationally. The following illustrates how Soltron™ will get to the end user:
Distributor/Jobber

Sales Representatives

Direct Commercial Customers

Retail/Chain Distribution

Private label (major companies)

Internet sales & marketing

Export (foreign countries) <<

Re: In support of JohnR

It has been proved in a lab by Queens University for one and see results on www.Spirit-of-cardiff.com website for two so, in a lab and across the atlantic for starters. How much proof do you want?

You have seen people on this forum do same sort of tests as you and have come up trumps. You have seen people report about it killing bugs. I dont think the Sealine school would have used it if it didnt! It works. See prev posts of people that are happy with it for whatever reason they buy it for. Sorry it didnt work for you! I am not claiming the high ground I just think people shouldnt judge until they have tried it. You did, it didnt work for you so you can say that you didnt get fuel economy from it but it may have been cleaning the crap out of your tanks or improving your fuel quality or reducing your emissions which your test didnt cover.

I rest my case.
