1. As you well know, I do not and have never commented adversely on Soltron's bugkilling qualities, only the (outrageous imho) mpg improvement claims
2. As for scientific tests, the existence of QU experiments is itself anecdotal. No one including the manufacturer has actually produced the QU reports, AFAIK. Sorry if they're around and I just haven't found them, can you give me a url for them?
3. The Priddy "tests" were anecdotal, nothing was reported about how he took his measurements
4. I'm not aware of anything from Sealine Sea School. I know them from having been a Dayskipper student a while ago, and ahem they are no great authority on engineering matters such as this.
5. "You have seen people on this forum do same sort of tests as you". No I haven't, and neither have you! Please remember, my test was reasonably well measured, over 100hours, and carried out by someone with much higher engineering qualifications than anyone at Sealine Sea School, or Priddy.
IMHO Solly is a praps bug killer, not a mpg improver if you already have clean diesel
Thanks for your points, I will answer in same order as your points.
1 What do you call outrageous? Evidence by testing has proved that in some engines it has been up to 15% inprovement. That doesnt mean everyone gets 15%. Remember if you run flat out or near top speed you will get performance not economy you can't have both.
2 Give me your fax number and I will send them to you, or you can have a full copy of this and independant reports inc. Dyno testing and Fueltech AC reports next time you are in Gsy.
3 Just cos he didnt evidence exactly on his report how he did his testing doesnt mean that it doesnt work. If you are running a boat across the Atlantic you know what the fuel consumption is and any margin of improvement will be quite clear. Personally I think it the test would have been better without then with rather than with then without but facts are facts they noticed the improvement.
4 What has engineering skills got to do with the bug? You have the bug you recognise that you have the bug, you treat it, it disappears problem solved. Also you have smoke coming from exhaust add treatment smoke is reduced, transom stays wipeable clean. Sorry fail to see where engineering skills are required for these experiments!
5 Well ish Dave and Geoff (oh and Rich) have monitored their cnsumption just to name two off the top of my head. Secondly how do you know how qualified in engineering Alan Priddy is (FYI he is an engineer), ok so your guy may have more qualifications in engineering but what qualifications has he got in Fuel Technology? Ok I may not have done the same test as you but I bet you I have done more extensive testing of the treated and untreated fuel and have more bench tests results than you have done in your 100 hours.
just to add to my point when you bought your new car and it stated that Urban cycle it did say 25mpg did you take your car back if it didnt reach that figure, no of course not mpg is difficult to measure and you will not always be able to do it accurately so I would be interested to see what instruments/bench test you gave it. Pure facts and measurements of course inc monitoring equipment used not just a writeup cos that would be ..................ANECDOTAL !

PS Look what you have started Kim !!!! Light touchpaper and retire eh?
Boring boring boring boring boring boring boring boring boring......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Can we give it a rest now? Please.
Dom: Let's agree to disagree! I'll buy you a pint next time in Gsy and we'll sort it out with the benefit of much alcohol inside us both! Anyway, you've made the whole thread scroll to the right now <G>
Cheers
Dom
Not looking for anything in particular. I like to keep an eye on the web-site from time to time as it gives me a good handle on a variety of issues and views.
Best wishes, John
Yes looking back at it it does seem that way but not intentional.
Lately customer requirements and service in general has become worse
from a wide variety of service providers. If there were more people like John
looking to see what the customer likes instead of thinking they know we
may end up getting good service.
Looking is one thing though implementing it is another.
