Re: shame/shame/shame

Melbourne, yes I think I've heard of it somewhere. Is it on the way to somewhere well known?
I see Oz is now a top ice skating nation.Great tactics, lull them all into a false sense of security. Can you describe what a gold medal looks like for us Poms?

Re: shame/shame/shame

It may have been forgotten But GB won the first Gold medals (2) in that event in Lillehammer 94.
The Aussie only got in the final because another competitor got disqualified. But good luck to him!

Re: shame/shame/shame

I thought you Aussies in both S...y and Melbourne were united in your dislike of Canberra, or at least the Federal Government. Still Canberra did have a great Rugby League team while I was there in the days of Meninga, Stuart and Daley. Now that is a real sport, not like Aussie Rules (Are there any?).
BTW congrats in winning a Winter Olympics gold. I am still smiling about it. Great tactics hanging back waiting for the rest to fall over. I bet the yanks didn't like it.

Re: How\'s this then....

Billskip… keep in mind the poor bugger was sent down the street to get some "ice blocks"… (its still hot here 33*C today). He saw all these other guys racing to the shop, so thought there must be a sale on… Yes good idea .. hang back and let the others all fall over.

Paulineb… to use the words 'refined' and 'aussie' in the same sentence? ;-)
No !!!!!once again you have caught me out //…..I should have said formidable, sociable, sensual, witty, winsome (well we did win 2 gold medals). Hell I could go on and on, however Kim (webmaster) would only cut me off for using too much space. But you get the message. !!!!@#$%^&*& They all fit into a description of an Aussie

Miker…I thought you Aussies in both S...y and Melbourne were united in your dislike of Canberra, or at least the Federal Government
True.. we don’t like ANY authority… must be the Irish in us. Cannot comment on that game you mentioned. I only played REAL footy Aussie (no Rules)

Re: Aussie Rules

I went to the MCG once to watch an Aussie Rules match. Essendon v somebody. It rained nonstop and seemed to be mainly mudwrestling. Main interest was the blokes in white coats waving their arms around. Couldn't take to it. No wonder no one else plays it.

Re: Aussie Rules

Can't remember the score. Some team in dark blue and , I think, a diagonal stripe, won. I know it wasn't Richmond because I bought my son their shirt for a pressie. It was the smartest looking one in the shop.
