Flick around this site by way if example .
Some of these modals we are talking by now only three figure numbers around WW, a few double digit .Not thousands .

Superformance: Ferrari Parts for 246, 308, 348, 355, 360 and all of the Ferrari range

And this Ferrari parts for your vintage and italian sports cars.

Just two sites .So I do not get the low number economic arguments to cease support .
VP numbers blow the sum of these cars into the weeds .

” Sorry have to cancel the Milia Migalia retro run because of unavailability of a widget “

You just never hear it in the classic car scene .
Cant complain at the Mille Miglia with all the vintage cars there and being able to fix them at the roadside

Nobody that I'm aware of here or on the various VP Facebook Groups is waiting for one. Have you tried asking VP if they can attempt to re-program yours? Might also be worth asking on FB if anyone has a used one that they're willing to sell.

What serial number of ECU do you need?

Coastal Rides occasionally have used ones for sale.

Happy New Year to everyone.
Sorry for radio silence my end but I have been spending a lot of time on the real day job instead of chasing Volvo Penta and running about doing things I don't get paid for.....if I had not have done so the grandchildren would not have had any Christmas presents!

I dread to add up the hours I spent with Volvo engineers, on the phone, on emails and zoom calls with Volvo and other interested parties in trying to resolve this. But, on the plus side, we did get a promise from Volvo to remanufacture these obsolete parts so hopefully the wider boating community will be a much better looked after community.

As I posted previously, towards the end of September, we received and fitted an ECU from Volvo and all was well with the boat just as Volvo Paul said it would be.
The boat is now sold and is with her new owners and ran like a dream on the 250 mile delivery trip.
Volvo are supposed to be remanufacturing these again by this time as the original quote was by Q3 2021.
I suggest that you approach your usual parts supplier and if they come back and say 'not supported any longer' then email the president of Volvo like I did and remind her of the intention to remanufactured these parts.

If anybody needs the email addresses of the relevant UK and HO people just drop me a PM and I will happily reply with all info needed.

Happy boating in 2022.

Mike.

Mike, thanks for all of your sterling efforts. Having a personal vested interest in getting this issue resolved I'd be happy to take over any chasing that you've been doing. You should have my email address already if you'd like to send me the relevant contact details. If you have a relationship with the relevant people perhaps you could give me an intro?

Hello Volvopaul.
I am interested to investigate this ecu to see if it is possible to repair.
I ask here because this forum turned up when i searching the great web?
I do ecu repair on my free time after work, so I can spend time to dig into this epoxy glued ecu.
Anyway, if one here have for sale, or for free. Just send me a pm.

Just a quick update. I've spoken to Volvo and the global shortage of microprocessors has caused a further delay.

However, the good news is that due to the large number of KAD/TAMD engines that are still in use, they have commissioned the manufacture of these ECU's and are confident that they will be available in the second quarter of this year.

I'll keep on their case and let you know when I have a firm date for when they are back in stock.

In the meantime, if anyone has a broken ECU then they do still have some floating around and in some cases are able to re-program broken ECU's to get them working again.

We'll have to see. Who knows, the price might even fall!

What I can say, is that they're very probably cheaper than the equivalent MAN, Caterpillar or Cummings ECU's.....

don't let porto hear you say that, don't you know you're not allowed to say a bad word about anything that goes into an Italian boat as its always the best stuff possible and never breaks or causes issues
