Visit my harbour and Ubunu Linux

The way I read the website you look at the charts on line (after you pay the £25 to be a member), which you can then print off sections as required (for planning only)

Ah sorry: I've only looked into the chart sticks. The demo for the online charts seems to work fine on 12.04 (not that I've got a printer to check printing) but guessing you've already tried that.

If you mean their chart sticks: unfortunately they don't work on Linux unless things have changed recently.

Yup. the website works fine, but the OpenCPN charts don't. As I understand it, that's because they are encrypted on the stick and the images are unencrypted on the fly as required, so it isn't even possible to modify OpenCPN to write out unencrypted versions.

The VMH website is a nightmare to comprehend. As far as I know they have at least 4 forms of charts. CD/DVD onto your computer, download directly from them, a memory stick and a tablet version, all at different prices and different forms of subscripltion which I've never got to the bottom of. I've ended up with the dvd, the memory stick and the tablet versions.
Your best bet is to email or phone Steve Bryant at VMH tell him what you want to do, the equipment you're using and you'll get a pretty quick reply. He is very approachable.
