VHF Antenna Cover

I have a hand held Cobra VHF Radio and I have noticed recently that the rubber cover for the antenna is prone to come detached exposing the antenna core. It hasn’t affected the radio performance but I would like to keep it place, any technical reason why I can’t just put a spot of superglue into the base?

Mine was the same. (except I lost some of the surroundy bit) Heatshrink and a car tyre valve cap did the trick. Couple of years now and still working

No Reason not to, but you might find a short length of adhesive lined heatshrink is more long lasting as long as it doesn't interfere with the connector.

Mine did exactly the same. The original supplier, Marine Superstore, sent me a replacement Aerial FOC.

Make sure you thoroughly clean the tyre valve cap, because there's a very good chance a dog has peed on it.

Being a nosey sort, I've just checked on Ebay. A packet of 16 brand new, no dog pee, valve caps costs £0.99.

What will you use the remaining 15 caps for?

Heatshrink tube ......

I would avoid any tape unless its fully Self Amalgamating ... also if glue - then I would use a rubber based to avoid creating a hard spot - which CA (superglue) does.
